Messy
Christmas!
There has been a Methodist Chapel in Park Road, Combe since 1835…but Methodist influence in the village goes back much further. Records show that a Methodist meeting was held at a house in Boltons Lane as long ago as 1778.
Although regular Sunday morning worship ceased in 2009, the church still strives to provide a Methodist witness to the community and to play its part in village life.
Once a month we hold an all-age worship event called Messy Church…a combination of fun, food, creativity and faith enjoyed both by families and people of all ages who consider themselves young at heart! As of September we are launching SECOND SUNDAY ... an all age family service combining traditional and contemporary worship.
We have recently launched Bears n Prayers a short time of story-telling, songs and prayers especially for pre-schoolers and their parents or carers. This stems from our long-standing association with Combe Pre-School which meets weekdays during term-time in the church school room. Over the summer we ran a successful holiday club and once again enjoyed an open air service on the village green to herald the start of Combe Feast (click here for photographic evidence!).
Other plans being discussed include the launch of a community cinema, so check out this site for further updates.
